Florida would be the ideal landing spot for Trotz.

They need to get rid of Rob Tallas also. They need a great goaltending coach that can work on Spencer Knight lateral movements. Also, run and gun hockey are exciting for the fans. Defensive hockey is boring. Blashill and Deboer have a disconnect with their players. They are all about x's and o's. They do not motivate their players. Barkov did not motivate his teammates during the playoffs and should not be captain. I would give Brunette another shot and let him bring in his own assistants. Trotz is a dinosaur who doesn't provide the push to get the team over the top.

WINNING is exciting for the fans. Trotz has already proven that he can take an offensively talented team and instill the right defensive systems and mindset to push them to the next level.

I've kind of been expecting this to happen. This makes sense for Trotz and the Panthers.

In the four years that Trotz was with the Islanders, he got beat by the Lightning both times in the semifinals. He couldn't figure them out either. Plus he will come with a big contract requirement. His career is on the decline, ask Lou Lamoriello.

I think those Islanders teams overachieved and the Panthers have a better roster.

Are you part owner of the team? Why do you care about cost? The Islanders lost because they didn’t have the offensive firepower to compete. Yes, Trotz isn’t good at developing players offensively, but he’s excellent at taking offensively talented players and getting them to buy into defensive responsibilities. Hence why he’d be perfect for Florida. Lots of offensive talent, defensively so-so, and definitely lacking the leadership and will to win. But hey, enjoy the early playoff exits.

No bang for the buck with Trotz. Did he win the president trophy with his team? Was he a finalist for the Jack Adam award? Besides, why did the Capitals fire Trotz after he won the Stanley Cup with them? Food for thought. But from what I hear, Zito likes Jeff Blashill. He's said that he is a great student of the game, good friends with Jon Cooper, and loves analytics. He may very well be your next coach. I prefer Brunette who had a great hockey career, has been in actual game situations and can relate to the players and speed of the game. The players said they love coming to the rink and playing for him.

Don't see any reason to get rid of Tallas, unless he's lost the support of Luongo and Bob. He's a key part of the goalie excellence department thing and supposedly has been instrumental in the evaluation, recruiting, and development processes.

I'm not sure if these moves help Brunette or set the stage for him to leave on his own. I said coaching and preparation were the difference in the playoffs, maybe the brass reads it the same way. Panthers are clearly uncomfortable with signing Brunette for a permanent HC role, nor are they likely to fire an interim HC who won the Presidents Trophy. So I would assume they're interviewing Trotz+ or working behind the scenes on Q. I do see Brunette staying on staff if Q were to return.

I highly doubt if they bring back Quenneville. They let go of his friend Ulf Samuelsson. They moved on from him. Not to say he won't get another coaching job if reinstated by Bettman. But that walking on thin ice as the abuse player from the Blacjhawks with object to that.

The problem with the Panther's defense is that they wanted the defense to step up in the play and shoot the puck to get more pucks on net. The problem with that was that the Panther's defensemen did not have to foot speed to catch up to the puck if it got past them. The opposing forward would hang them out to dry and have a breakaway on Bob or Knight. It's all about puck possession.

Im done with brunette. We had a better series against tampa last season without spending all those 1st rounders on rentals. The 4 game sweep was it for me. Atrocious.

Panthers owners want to sell tix as much as they want to win, or maybe it’d be more accurate to say that they want to win because it will sell more tix. They’re not as interested in icing a “boring” defensive team that wins 2-1 , as they are in having a fun team to watch that wins 5-3. We’ll see if this season’s flame out vs TB (who played a defense-first game) alters that outlook at all.

The panthers and the leafs seem to have that same exciting team business model. Just look across the state of Florida to “boring” Tampa they’re obviously doing it wrong.

Brunette needs to be gone. It would be a big mistake to keep him as head coach. That's if they're trying to win the cup.
To me it's quite obvious.
This team isn't in a rebuild. He can't be learning on the job with this team.

That’s why I said we’ll see if they adjust at all. TB has been their target, if not their model. TB just beDeviled them with deefense and Vasi, after watching them struggle against Washington trapping

Really? Jukka Jalonen as the next Panther coach. You might as well call it team Finland
And you might as well get rid of all your American players as this guy doesn't speak a word of English.

yeah why would you want to hire a coach with 3 World Championships, an Olympic Gold, a Liiga championship, a World Juniors championship, and is already familiar with some of your assistant coaches?

I mean he's the only coach in history other than Mike Babcock to have won a World Championship and a World Junior Championship. But go off I guess.

What about the Canadians on the team? Oh, btw, Jalonen does speak English.

Brunette's team won the president trophy, they had the most goals than any team, the crowd was yelling we want ten. I guess people have short memories. They were exciting to watch. Now you people want a European coach that is known for boring defensive hockey. Finnish players are finesse, perimeter players who don't like contact. I rather watch smash-mouth, in-your-face hockey.

Who said anything about wanting him to be hired? I only said he speaks English fluently, he’d never even be mentioned as a possibility if he didn’t.
